Calthorpe Academy Challenge

Calthorpe Academy Challenge

In just under 10 days, Fusion Community Initiatives will be delivering a life-enhancing one-day build project for Calthorpe Academy, an incredible school for children with complex learning needs, and with a learning culture committed to developing the ‘skills for the life that the pupils want’.

Teams from Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby – and leading rugby play organization Rugby Tots, will come together on 26th January and join mentors from Fusion Initiatives, to create an amazing outdoor recreation space for the children at Calthorpe Academy. The project will also provide the platform for a dynamic and different team-building exercise for the Wooden Spoon and Rugby Tots teams, facilitated by ex-military coaches and mentors from Fusion Community Initiatives.

The plans for the outdoor space are challenging; including benches with raised planters for a kitchen garden, sensory tunnels and an outside ‘classroom’ space. It will be an incredibly rewarding achievement to build all of this in just ONE DAY, creating not just a stunning recreation space, but leaving behind a legacy for the school.

For each person involved – the teams from Wooden Spoon and Rugby Tots, Fusion facilitators, and the staff and children at Calthorpe Academy, this will undoubtedly leave a lasting imprint.
